A typical manual pentest engagement runs three to six weeks from kickoff to final report. That’s a reasonable amount of time for a skilled team to do thorough, careful work — but it also means the report describes an application state that may no longer exist by the time you read it.
Modern engineering teams ship changes daily. A pentest scoped once a year, or even once a quarter, is testing an increasingly outdated target. New endpoints, new logic, new integrations — all shipped in the gap between assessments.
The alternative isn’t necessarily replacing human expertise — it’s closing the gap between when code ships and when it gets tested, so findings arrive while they’re still relevant.
