What Skilled Human Pentesters Do That Automated Tools Don’t
Posted in :
A skilled human tester doesn’t just run through a checklist — they form a mental model of how an application is supposed to work, then deliberately look for the places where that model breaks down. That’s a creative process, not a mechanical one.
They also bring business context that a tool has no way to infer: understanding that a particular data exposure matters more because of what industry the client is in, or that a particular workflow is high-value specifically because of how the business operates.
The goal for any automated approach isn’t to replace that judgment — it’s to extend how often and how quickly that kind of reasoning can be applied, without waiting for the next scheduled engagement.
